Growing up, we were taught to speak up, to be assertive and always say how we feel, but for some reason the converse side to this lesson somehow came up missing- TO SHUT UP.
As a result our parents have succeeded in breeding an entire generation of people who know how to talk and absolutely no idea how or when to keep quiet.
This rambling is largely inspired by the fact of my being a law student. In all honesty, I despise the company of other law students so much so that the thought of going to class fills me with dread.
Recently, I noticed that law students have this insatiable need to always say something
But can I blame them really...they’re probably just a product of an orientation which attaches a whole lot of importance to noise.
Now I'm not asking anybody to become mute I’m just saying the next time you want to speak… you should probably ask yourself is this an actual coherent thought or is it as my friend will say a “brain fart”.
